Rotorua is a city located on the North Island that's known for its bubbling geysers, hot springs, and Maori culture. This city is full of outdoor adventures like mountain biking through lush forests or exploring caves filled with glowworms. In addition, Rotorua offers plenty of opportunities for cultural experiences like visiting local marae (meeting grounds) or trying out traditional Maori cooking techniques. Fiordland National Park

Located on the South Island, Fiordland National Park is a nature lover's paradise. This park encompasses 1,219 square miles and features some of the country's most dramatic scenery including towering mountains and deep fiords carved by ancient glaciers. There are plenty of hiking trails throughout the park that offer amazing views—if you're feeling extra brave you can even take a helicopter ride over Milford Sound! For those looking for something more relaxing, kayaking around Lake Te Anau or visiting Doubtful Sound are both great options as well.
